Software Engineers; Relocate to Ireland for Career in Global R&D Lab #Fintech

Keeper has recently been retained by a staffing organisation on behalf one of the world’s leading Fintech payment firms to help them spin up a global R&D centre based in Nenagh, Ireland.  We’re helping many Croatian engineers to understand why they should consider relocating to Ireland; how that can happen and what that will look like.  In this blog explores how this opportunity has arisen, what it’s like to live in Ireland as well as giving details of the process, how to make the move, job descriptions and financial rewards.

We look forward to speaking with you – if this is of interest drop us a line at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to discuss things further with you.The plan is to scale up this green field site to a total of 300 engineering roles which will serve the company’s global operations. So far, a core team of 20-30 people have been hired, and the plan is to hire at least 50 more people by October 2018.  Hiring talented software engineers on this scale is a challenge – to help with the effort, Keeper Solutions were contacted and have agreed to mount a campaign.  We usually focus on hiring our own people in Croatia, but we have agreed to work with this client to help them establish their workforce in Nenagh.

Why This?  Three main reasons;

(i) The work is interesting – global scale projects in one of the largest #Fintech players in the card payments space

(ii) We believe in the local leadership – to date, there has been 100% acceptance by all who have been issued with offers

(iii) Nenagh & the South West of Ireland is a fabulous place to live and work.

Lough Derg is a beautiful resource for those living in the area.

Why Nenagh? I hear you say…

It is a small(ish) town located in a stunning area of natural beauty (right next to the fabulous Lough Derg – (Nota Bene all who enjoy fishing, hiking, picnics, sailing, bird watching or water sports).

It’s on a motorway 20 minutes drive from Limerick, 90 minutes from Dublin. So you can enjoy working in one of the most dynamic European tech centres, without all the cost/hassle of trying to get set up in Dublin.

https://mapcarta.com/Nenag

Initially, you may wish to rent in the area – you have a wide choice of locations, as Nenagh is situated right next to the M7.  Renting in the South West of Ireland is much less expensive than in the Dublin region – and should you decided to settle and buy your own home, that is extremely affordable by European standards too. Check out Daft.ie to look at your options for renting.  If you plan to buy, then you’ll need to save 10% of the cost of the property, which is feasible in this region given the reasonably price of houses.

You’re also only an hour’s drive from Ireland’s famous #WildAtlanticWay which has amazing opportunities for surfing, walking, fishing, sailing, trekking, biking and generally having a great time.

We do understand that it’s a big decision to make the move, but we’ll help you with assessing the opportunity, and there is an attractive relocation fee of between €3-4k.

Selection process:

  1. Phone screen with Keeper Solution recruitment team
  2. CV is presented and candidate is put into the selection process system
  3. Initial screening of the CV by Irish recruitment partners
  4. The candidate is submitted to hiring manager for review
  5. Hiring manager sets up video call with candidate in Croatia
  6. In country interview (HR+Hiring Manager) on first or second weekend in July
  7. Successful candidates will be given a contract on the spot
  8. Once the start date in Ireland is agreed, you’ll be given support, advice and assistance to make the relocation to Ireland as smooth as possible.

Two Senior C# Developer Roles in Croatia Clinical Trials Management

Way back in the start of 2012, Keeper got it’s very first client contract with global leaders in cardio-respiratory diagnostic devices & services; Vitalograph.  They were extremely busy at the time and needed a ten-person C# and QA team at onsite in Co. Clare.

I was delighted with the opportunity, rolled up the sleeves and got that substantial team up and running over the coming months.  We had a great response from developers in Poland and from some of the local talent from the surrounding region too.  Over the years Keeper and Vitalograph have worked together closely since then.  I now have many friends and former colleagues who have worked in this great operation.

Keeper has matured over the years.  From our early days, our focus was to bring software engineers to Ireland to work onsite with our clients.  Now, we have two offices in Croatia (Zagreb and Varazdin) where we have some really great people.  We also have an amazing bunch of remote developers working from Warsaw, Romania and Serbia.  At this stage, we only have a few of our engineers working onsite with clients in Ireland (and they’re also a fab bunch!).

Likewise, Vitalograph have matured – modernising their dev stack, improving dev/qa processes and really innovating great pace.

Clare is a super location to live, work or visit.  It sticks out into the Atlantic ocean, and has an incredible coast line of cliffs, beaches and reefs.  Here’s a fairly hypnotic shot of big ocean swell rolling in on Cornish reef in Lahinch, Co. Clare (about 25 minutes drive from Ennis).  I really wouldn’t like one of those waves falling on my head!

I wanted to let you know that we have an opportunity for two senior C# developers to work with us on building the Vitalograph Clinical Data Management product.  The roles are based in Croatia – but we will fly you into Co. Clare for two weeks to get to know the people, technology and processes.  Whilst you’re there you can get to sample the night life of Ennis and see some of the amazing #WildAtlanticWay in Clare.

Here is a description of what we’re looking for

Software Development Engineer (x2)

Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of Windows and Web based applications. The ideal candidates will enjoy working as part of a team and be quick to learn new technologies.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a software engineering or related discipline
  • Experience designing and developing web based applications
  • Formal design methods e.g. UML
  • Desktop and Server Database experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of the full development lifecycle
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Experience with C# .NET Winforms and/or ASP.NET and associated frameworks

  • Experience with SQL Server and SQL Server Express
  • Experience in the development of software within a regulated environment
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • A good sense of humour will help for this role

The role is working remotely from Croatia (some of the time based in our offices in Zagreb or Varazdin).  Initial assignment is for 6 months, but it’s quite likely this role will be extended further.  It might suit an independent contractor or we’d be happy to engage with you as an employee if you prefer.

Either way, drop us a line to discuss; [email protected]
